Greenwood Drones operates under a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Operational Authorisation (OA), allowing us to undertake advanced commercial drone operations safely, legally, and in full compliance with UK aviation regulations. This authorisation is awarded only to operators who can demonstrate robust operational procedures, effective risk management, and a strong commitment to aviation safety.  

Our CAA Operational Authorisation (OA) permits Greenwood Drones to undertake a wide range of professional commercial drone operations in accordance with UK Civil Aviation Authority regulations. It confirms that our pilots, operating procedures, safety management systems, and risk assessments meet the standards required for safe and compliant operations in more complex environments, giving our clients confidence that every flight is carefully planned and conducted to the highest professional standards.

Our Operational Authorisation enables us to provide aerial photography and videography, roof and building inspections, thermal imaging, construction progress monitoring, infrastructure inspections, mapping, and surveying services. Every project is supported by comprehensive flight planning, detailed risk assessments, and strict regulatory compliance to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

At Greenwood Drones, all of our pilots are fully qualified, holding both the General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC) and the A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC). These nationally recognised qualifications demonstrate our commitment to operating safely, professionally, and in full compliance with UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations.

The GVC is the industry-standard qualification for professional drone operators and is a key requirement for obtaining a CAA Operational Authorisation. It involves comprehensive theoretical training, practical flight assessments, and an in-depth understanding of airspace, aviation law, risk management, meteorology, navigation, and emergency procedures. Holding a GVC enables our pilots to undertake more advanced commercial drone operations than those available to recreational or basic certificate holders, giving our clients confidence that every flight is planned and executed to the highest professional standards.

The A2 CofC complements the GVC by allowing our pilots to operate safely and responsibly in environments where people may be nearby, while maintaining strict compliance with UK drone regulations. Together, these qualifications provide the flexibility to undertake a wide range of commercial drone services, from aerial photography and cinematography to roof inspections, thermal surveys, mapping, and infrastructure inspections.
